Welcome to Papamoa Kitty Cabins

A long time coming. This idea has been developing inside my head for such a long time.

Working in a cattery named “Pussy’s Galore” based in Papatoetoe many years ago started my journey with cats. I can still remember finishing many shifts with the owners Kay and Ed saying to me ” you should be a vet!” …funny thing was I was at university training to be a teacher.

Cats have always been a constant friend to me through many different parts of my life. Five years ago I began to feel that I wanted to do something more with cats and became a fosterer for R.R.R a local rescue here in the Bay of Plenty. This led to 83 cats and kittens coming in and out of our home. The best part of that has been seeing sickly or spicy kittens becoming loving members of new families.

This year we (a group of like-minded cat ladies) have started ‘The Kitten Orphanage’ a new rescue just focused on kittens. Currently, we have over 50 kittens and mother cats in our care across the wonderful fosterers volunteering for us.

I am now at the point in my life (maybe mid-life crisis) that teaching needs a break and something that I am passionate about gets a look in. My forever-loving husband Rob is my helper, sounding board, voice of reason and best backer on this project. I just hope that I can make myself and my family proud in this new venture.
